What this world lacks is a good car-based game show. I’m always saying this. What we’ve been missing is the right host. Who could possibly marry the off-the-cuff humor, world-class car knowledge, and fabulous hair necessary to make this happen? Only one person could do it, and that’s friend-of-the-site Zack Klapman.
The theme of the show is quite simple. Two teams of car experts square off, trying to answer questions about cars, technology, Japanese tuners, and the Fast And The Furious franchise. Did I mention that some of my favorite people are in this show? Jesse Iwuji is a warm, thoughtful, and fun guy who has a crazy resume. Elana Scherr is not only an excellent writer and cool person, she has impeccable car taste. Derek Powell? The only person I know who regularly texts me photos of Ford Aerostars. And then J. Ryan. I don’t know him, but he seems cool.

And Zack! Sometimes you see a person on the Internet and you have the sneaking suspicion that they’re a big phony jerk. Zack is… not. He’s great. I love Zack. Maybe the funniest person in the car universe, other than Armin Balg. But Armin edited the episode, so pretty close. Also, Thaddeus Brown edited it. A real super-team/superfriends situation going on here.
Please watch this and let me know what your score would be below
Way to make Torch cry, Matt!
I got all of one correct, but I have FAR less random car knowledge than the average Autopian. To the person who once said “but you know how to swap a rotary into a kei car” in response to that… I do NOT! But I’m going to learn how.
During Covid, Motor Trend had a show called “Shift Talkers”. It was a zoom based game show that worked pretty well. They had journalists answering questions and having fun discussions. Torch was on one episode. The best part was having to figure out a movie in which a scene was created with Hot Wheels. Fun stuff.
I think the Autopian should put out more videos. Even if they are lower budget, low-edit videos. Not everything needs to be fancy.
I enjoyed that. Watched it in bed last night, forgot to keep score, but did okish.
It definitely has some edges that need smoothing, but that makes sense given it’s the first one. I hope it comes back. I’ll definitely be watching.
WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW MANY TIMES HAS ASTON GONE BANKRUPT?!!!!! I MUST KNOW!!!!
Also BMW designer up to 2024 is clearly some whacko with a crazy space-beaver fetish.
Yes I am replying to my own post. Shitty weather out and its my day off…
7!
That’s one I actually got right 🙂
Seven; I believe Zack has it as the caption/first comment on the video, and a couple other commenters corroborated. The omission of the answer in the video bugged me too!
I watched last night and really enjoyed it, I hope Zack can build this thing out because it’s a really fun concept! I didn’t score myself, but I think I would do okay since Zack is happy to award points for wrong answers as long as they are funny/interesting/good answers. Autopian should get involved somehow!
Ah, I was wondering what this was when I saw it in my Youtube feed. Will definitely check it out.
Are you guys still doing trivia sessions? I really enjoyed those.
I had an idea for an Autopian game show.
You take a sketch artist (like Torch), a group of 3 or 4 “gear heads”, and 1 normie non-car person.
I suggest you call it Overdrawin’ 😉
This is literally how the Chinese car industry worked from 2000-2015 or so 🙂
This could work… Prize is Autopian swag!
I’d watch this.
There needs to be an interactive element where viewers can submit their answer, fastest correct answer wins and gets a shout out on the show.
Oh, and make sure the sketch artist is Chip Foose or a famous automotive designer and keep them completely in the dark and watch the frustration grow.
Who needs a “famous” designer when we already have Uncle Adrian? He would be frustrated merely by having to interact with a “normie”, let alone trying to interpret cues such as “It’s a yellow car, umm, with wheels I think?” and would call them a blithering cock-womble about two minutes in. Now THAT’S the content I want!
