Hey y’all. David and the lovely XPEL CrossCabriolet will be joining your humble publisher in Las Vegas tomorrow night for a meetup. As if that’s not enough hanging out, the CrossCab will then be the highlight of the Galpin Car Show this Sunday in Los Angeles. If you’re nearby and planning to go to either, let me know in the comments.
The first plan is to gather at a place called Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews this Thursday night (tomorrow) at around 6:00 PM for some food and general Autopian merriment.
David and I are in town for the SEMA show, which means a lot of meetings with potential partners and just generally seeing what kind of weird creations people are up to. After our successful Vegas meetup this summer, we thought it would be a fun idea to do it again… just not at like 9 PM in a random parking lot after driving over the Rockies.
If you want to see the Cross Cab, we’re going to stake out a spot by the Rivian Adventure Network charger. We’ll park, say hi, and then once we have a little crowd, go in and eat some burgers.

Some of our readers have already reserved spots for a truly Autopian mix of cars. Jason will be joining us later in Vegas and driving down with us to LA, so he’ll be there as well. There’s no Galpin Car Show without Beau, so he’ll also be around if you want a photo or an autograph.
Every year, we put a different vehicle out in front of the big Galpin boulder. Which vehicle will it be this year? You can probably guess.

You should try to stage an event at the LeMay “America’s Car Museum” in Tacoma. It’s four floors of rotating classics in an odd-looking building referred locally to as the “Silver Slug.”
I’m not all that fond of them referring to themselves as “America’s Car Museum,” much like I don’t like the Dallas Cowboys labeling themselves as “America’s Team.” But it is a great museum. And free to get into if you have NARM. As is MOHAI (our local Museum Of History And Industry) up in Seattle. The Museum of Flight at Boeing Field is going to cost you regardless. But also, totally worth it. You can see an SR-71, a Concord and the previous Air Force One. And sit in a cut out cockpit of the SR-71. And a lot of other cool stuff.
I’m sounding like the Chamber of Commerce or the local tourist board because I had a buddy from Boston come in last week and now, he is trying to convince his wife to move here.
Wanna make it out to vegas but I think my buddy already committed us to another car meet a couple miles away and he’s the one paying on the ubers.

How far along is the Jeep? David could probably fit that into a few oversize bags. Tell TSA it’s a stroller and some skis and finish assembly in Beau’s parking lot, as the lord intended.
