Ford let the cat out of the bag when it unveiled a new puma alongside its refreshed compact crossover, the Territory. Okay, I’m talking about an actual furry feline.
During a weekend unveiling event in the Philippines, a tabby, snoozing under the front bumper, was startled awake when the vehicle cover was removed. In a video shared by @supladomotors, the now-viral clip of the cute catnap has garnered millions of social media views.

The gut reaction for many scaredy cats is to run, but this gal simply stayed put. Maybe still woozy or just so absolutely terrified, she remained hunched over and partially hidden under the vehicle throughout the 30-second video. And that must’ve felt like forever to the small cat, surrounded by dozens of people, flashing lights, and loud music.
The brand ambassador standing next to the vehicle appears to see the cat while glancing down, but continues standing back, smiling for the audience. And she did the right thing. Any sudden moments or attempt to capture the crouching kitty would’ve caused a scene during the presentation. Not a good look for what was a significant debut for Ford.
The Ford Territory was introduced to the Philippine market only two years ago, but it is refreshed for 2026 as a hybrid-only model. According to Top Gear Philippines, not only is the Territory Hybrid the brand’s first electrified vehicle in the market, but the Philippines is also the global introduction of the hybrid variant.
Now, how and why the cat snuggled up under the vehicle is no mystery. The Ford event is outdoors, and a car cover is hardly Fort Knox-level security. She probably saw the cozy dark place and thought, “Perfect.” Under wraps is the best hideout for a snooze… until showtime.
You’re probably wondering if she comes with the car. In this case, yes! Well, you don’t actually have to buy the Ford, but the cat is available for adoption. Cats of BGC, a volunteer organization in Metro Manila, shared news that the Ford team rescued the little lioness, who is now looking for a home. Per its Instagram:
Happy International Cat Day ????????! #BGCcatHeart is meowdeling at @ford_autohub. She is looking for a #fureverhome. Sign up here to adopt: bitly.com/adoptaBGCcat
May her future be full of quiet, uninterrupted catnaps.
Cats secretly own the internet, and I am all for it! More Catopian, please.
I’m surprised no one has made a DT cat joke yet…DT, have you adopted this cat yet? Also, still waiting on the wrenching articles for the “cat” Jeep!
Sorry. The cat will not take a chance at the border It’s smarter than that!
OMG, you couldn’t pay for more exposure or for better press than that.
I have a brown tabby named Sunbeep. They are smart cats. On the info card for her it said “talks a lot”. She is a great rescue.
All I can think is – Ford Has A Better Meow.
SUNBEEP!
Sunbeep says thank you.
Once again, my hopes for a new Panther platform have been dashed. I love how chill about it all the cat is, though.
Is Ford bringing back the Mercury Cougar and “The Sign of The Cat”?
Is the cat’s name “Chauncey”?
If only Farrah were still here….
Territory? Put the A/C on recirc, what is that smell?

Not so funny meow, is it?
The comment section is purrfect this morning.
“The brand ambassador standing next to the vehicle appears to see the cat while glancing down, but continues standing back, smiling for the audience. And she did the right thing. Any sudden moments or attempt to capture the crouching kitty would’ve caused a scene during the presentation.”
I suppose that explains the APPALLING lack of Bundy Bounce.
I’m sorry, but I have to call out on this one.
First, that’s not a new cat: it’s clearly a ’22 model. Second, that’s no longer Ford’s Territory. I’m pretty sure the cat marked it as his Territory. Third, I hope they’re serving Sauvignon Blanc at that unveiling, because that’s what it smells like.
If it was International Cat Day , shouldn’t she have been at a Scout event?
What an adorable cat! >^..^<
One could say it was new…Territory for that cat.
Isn’t that one of the Editor-In-Chief’s orange spy cats?
Would this be considered a cat delete?
Clearly the cat was only napping, as it’s been proven they prefer to live and give birth in Jeeps, not Fords.
Was this cat reported to be a female? Orange tabbies are almost always male.
What about the car? This is the Autopian! What is it?
And it’s a hybrid, we need more details!
This is the Chinese joint venture SUV that’s largely sold in Asia and the Middle East, though it’s also offered in Mexico. I WISH it was still based on the Falcon; that one was sweet.
Can confirm – bought a Turbo one new in 06. That was a fun car!
No! Cats are taking over the internet and I like it!
The Ford Territory was also sold in Australia years ago. Think it was based on the ‘home market’ Falcon over 12 years ago.
it was! It was a good looking car, also. Though I heard that Ford Australia made it very difficult to make an LHD version of the Falcon platform and thus while we got Zeta-based Pontiac G8s, Chevy Camaros, and the Chevy SS here in the US via Holden, we did not get the same competition from Ford Australia. What might have been had Ford brought their own large RWD sedans…
The Territory was based on the longer wheelbase Falcon wagon floorpan, and was designed to be a wagon replacement using as many Falcon parts as possible, to follow the trend in the market towards SUVs. They had Barra inline 6s, with a Turbo option, and either RWD or AWD, plus there was a diesel option. In theory this means you can convert a Falcon to AWD, but only if you raise the suspension to make room for everything to fit.
Cat-tastrophy averted, but I’m digging Ford’s new grill design – a balanced futuristic nod that still evokes the past. Wish we got more of it here in the States.
Is this Chat-GPT?
No, but it is Cat-GPT.
Imagine finding a quiet spot to take a nap and suddenly having the blankets thrown back and finding yourself surrounded by people with cameras. lol
An influencers happy place.
What the cat was thinking:
Yes, yes, admire me… I’m magnificent, I’m the Cat, thank you, thank you… But do you all have to do this now? You humans really need to work on this. I’d like to get back to my nap, thankyouverymuch… Oh, and I expect my dish to be filled before the hour is up.”
I’m a mile from the nearest house with cats, and it’s too dangerous to leave cats outside here, but a pregnant Mystery Cat showed up. out of nowhere.
Best guess is it was a kitten I rescued after it turned up bedraggled after an epic walk.
I returned it to it’s home then.
After she had her Mystery Kittens, I tried to keep an eye on them.
They were feral and tiny, so only caution kept them protected.
I’m looking for them one morning and can’t find the smaller ones.
When I open the hood on the Camry, they’re all cozy on top of the plastic head cover under the hood, well protected.
They did look surprized.
