“dentist”

Cue DT’s joke:
When’s the best time to go to the dentist? 2:30, since your tooth hurty!

Mercedes, this is so awesome! Naomi is so cute and sounds like y’all are the perfect fit. Good luck!

Congrats Mercedes! I had a feeling it would work out with how you described the way the dog bonded with you.

Congratulations to all three of you, Mercedes! We started with our recent rescue a month or so before you made your initial drive out west, and he’s now a very well-settled-in fellow who gives and gets a lot of joy. Wishing the same for you, Sheryl, and Naomi.

Boughten? Did you just write boughten? The only person I have ever known who suggested that boughten was a real word, was a certain ex-girlfriend who grew up in a little town called Greenbush in extremely northern Minnesota. At the time, I thought that she may have been making it up. Mind blown.

I suspect it’s mostly a Midwest sort of thing. Used it some when growing up, especially, say, referring to baked goods “boughten” instead of homemade. For when you just didn’t have enough time before the potluck or some such situation. Nowadys I’d probably just say “store bought”.

Yep, that was pretty much the conversation. I grew up in Cincinnati, and we would say store-bought. She thought I was crazy, and I thought that boughten was crazy. The irony is that I ended up moving to the Twin Cities about 7 years later. Even in the Mpls suburbs I don’t recall hearing people say boughten.

There must be a positive correlation between being a dog lover and an auto lover. And most dogs love autos, any auto, as long as they have an open window to stick out their snouts and sample all the scents of the world that are passing by. Congrats on the doggo, very happy both of you are getting back together.

Rescue dogs are the best. All of our cats and dogs have been rescues and the have all been wonderful.

Mercedes, I hope you have a full recovery with no lingering after effects. I broke my right ankle and knee years back in a skiing and a motorcycle accident respectively and still have issues with mobility and incipient rain.

“dogs love autos”
Yup, and I’m sure dogs don’t like the other kind of auto and are pro manual…

All dogs protesting: “Save the sticks! Save the sticks! Save the sticks!”

I owned a spree for a couple of years, bought cheap on the side of the road. Got it running OK but as a 6’4″ 220 pound man it was simply too small. I looked like Homer on the tiny bike. Mine was white.

I tumbled out of a ’99 Suburban when I was in high school, and popped the heck out of my right foot. I thought it was fine until the next day, when it had puffed up so much that I couldn’t fit it into any shoes except for the stretchy Neoprene ones I wore when washing cars. So that night I had to accompany my family to dinner at a fancy restaurant wearing a very pretty dress and my ragged old car-washing shoes. The side of the foot that popped still hurts randomly, and sometimes my entire foot will seize up.

Congrats to Mercedes and Sheryl on your new fuzzy family member!!!

Antti, that dashboard pops! And the seats!!!
