One of the greatest spectacles that you can witness is not an athlete at the top of their game, but someone attempting to launch a boat. Thomas wrote about how a pair of fellas failed so hard to pull a boat out of water. The video is honestly a fascinating watch, and I highly recommend it.
I take it that this is why some people like going down to the boat ramp just for the heck of it. Anyway, BoneBrothOutback adds amazing context:

As someone who works on the water and launches boats personally and professionally, I have seen lots of stuff at public ramps, to include:
-Someone forgetting to put the E-brake on and losing their truck to the ramp
-Someone jackknifing their trailer in the ramp, flipping the trailer over, snapping off the ball.
-A hitch pin failing, with the safety chains right behind it.
-A group of hunters, at 330am, fixing a broken motor while tied up to the ramp, with all of the nuts/plugs/wrenches in the engine cover on the floating dock. Their labrador retriever, anxious to do something/anything to help, promptly knocked the cover into the river, where it sank. They went home.
-An impatient person backing down the ramp, over a kayak at the waters edge.I have never seen this, this is a first.

An old boss of mine bought a small aluminum boat. Like, a 15′ jon boat. Then he bought the biggest motor he could find/afford in the local classifieds. It was something like a 75 hp outboard, and he bolted that sucker on!
The first time he tried to launch it, he backed it onto the public boat ramp. This was an intracoastal waterway, so at the end of the ramp, the water was quite deep.
So be backed the trailer right to the end of the ramp, then unclipped the cable from the trailer.
The boat went nearly vertical as the motor dragged it straight to the bottom.
Palmetto Ranger:
My stepdad almost lost his truck on the ramp. It rolled back but somehow even with the rear starting to float the front tires still had enough grip for him to roll forward when he jumped back in. There was an old timer at the ramp just chuckling like he had seen it all many times before.

Jason wrote about what the blue stuff inside airplane toilets is called. It’s known as airplane toilet fluid and one product of it is called SkyKem. Matt Butler:
So Kemtrails are real!

Rippstik:
Speaking of this: I was once in charge of parts for a fleet of 10 different aircraft including a very maintenance-heavy Gulfstream G550. The lavatory-level sensor (AKA Poop Sensor) malfunctioned and needed replacement.
How much do you think the Poop Sensor cost? WRONG. 36,000 US DOLLARS.
Before I fired the parts cannon, I asked around to see if I could get it rebuilt and was often referred to the same company. I forget the name, but their slogan was “We Know Our SH*T”.
Have a great evening, everyone!

Somehow, I suspect that the price of the poop sensor is based off of what it is WORTH, not what it costs
We used to just toss the dissolvable packets in the loo and flush it back in the old DC9 MD 80 days.
I was flying for a company in Nigeria when I got laid off here in the states about 18 years ago ( I lasted 8 months there then quit) and I saw a guy open the valve to dump the lav and he got covered in blue juice and solids , literally.
i just walked back into the cockpit. The FO and all the flight attendants actually went out and laughed at the poor guy. They were all locals and I wasn’t . How horrible as he had no safety equipment on at all plus sandals .
In many of the countries I have traveled, flip-flops are the industry standard PPE for almost every job from carpentry and welding to ship-breaking and zookeeping.
Are Americans getting dumber or are we just more aware of it because everyone has a video camera with them all the time?
Video camera. I grew up sort of near a Marina. There was a widow in the neighborhood who was still teaching and had serious dementia. One day, I was by the marina and everyone was in an uproar.
There was a dock with a ramp at the entrance of the marina. Wasn’t supposed to be used, but some people would take small cars out there and launch jet skis. Had signs up that it was closed.
Somehow, she had found a way to snake a giant old Cabin Cruiser that had been rotting in her driveway for decades to that ramp with a full sized station wagon. The dock was visibly sagging under the weight.
As they finally convinced her to not launch, there, she put the car in reverse and floored it. The big old Cabin Cruiser had a hole in the side bigger than the Minnows and sank instantly, dragging along the station wagon. They fished the old lady out before she drowned fortunately.
I think she went to a nursing home after that. I remember he screaming that “her husband had fixed it right’ to everyone right before she sank everything.
The fun part was getting everything out. The entrance to the marina was blocked and they couldn’t get a crane down that old wooden dock. Not sure how they solved it, but after about a month, one day I walked down there and it was all gone.
search for Haulover Inlet in Florida on You Tube for lots of boat fails on the water. Stupidly affects the rich and the poor alike.
Oh yeah, I think I might have to visit if I’m in the area. The youtube is epic.
Glad you were amused by the poop sensor saga.
I wish I could charge $36k every time I had to deal with people who lose their sh!t.
