Today, BMW dropped the first Alpina to be designed by the now-absorbed, formerly independent tuner brand, and as is so often the case with new BMWs these days, the styling is, er, not for everyone. But as a generator for Comment(s) Of The Day? It’s gold.
RallyDarkstrike That is not an Alpina, that is an ugly piece of…but at least it’s better than a lot of their recent stuff…
Livinglavidadidas I think it’s not bad looking, not totally my cup of tea but we’ll see how it stands the test of time. This looks like what Jaguar was going for when they ended up with their abomination
Borton If you ignore the front end it looks pretty sweet.
Grayvee280 The under grill bumper line reminds me of Din Djarin’s Mandalorian helmet. Ridiculous kidney shaped grills … This is the way

DialMforMiata seized upon this bit from BMW’s press copy with sarcastic glee that made me lol, and also set up Mechjaz for the sort of dirty joke that I enjoy because I am basically a middle-schooler:
Behind the rear console, a glass water bottle sits beside BMW ALPINA crystal glasses that rise on a self-deploying mechanism. Each glass is engraved with 20 deco-lines and features a sixdegree rim profile, held by concealed magnets and softly lit against the open-grain center console.
DialMforMiata Enough about the car. How about some pictures of those kickass GLASSES! 20 deco-lines? A “six degree rim profile”? Hidden freakin’ magnets? BMW IS BACK, BABY!!!

The Bishop took us deep down the Ford Courier rabbit hole today, a rabbit hole that turned me onto a movie car I had been, until then, completely unaware of (that’s it above, I’m sure you figured it out). I instantly imagined all the fun I could have with a bright-red Courier topped by a replica of The Hut’s signature ziggurat roof – it’s a party on wheels in a way that new Alpina could never be. Though not a clever comment, Carbon Fiber Sasquatch speaks for me:
I need that Pizza Hut truck. The Pizza Hut roof on it is amazing
Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend, everyone!
Wow, you're reading this? Thanks! If you're into RC cars and I seem vaguely familiar, it's because I spent over 25 years writing and editing RC car news, reviews, and tech articles in print and online. What else, what else ... I have a degree in Film Studies (useless), most of a degree in Graphic Design (useful), and I'm married to a wonderful woman with horrible taste in men. Thanks to her, we have a terrific daughter who just earned her Journalism degree and is way, waaay more together that I was at her age. Or right now.
