The V8 Cozy Coupe Is Totally Real, AI Said So! COTD

Cozyv8lol

AI is being inserted into every facet of life. AI in new phones, new cars, new computers, and so many other objects that connect to the Internet. Google forces it on you with every web search. You can even buy AI-enabled appliances for some reason. While there are fun uses of AI, I caution against using AI for fact-finding missions because if it can’t find the truth, it’ll just lie to you in complete confidence. You can even fool an AI into thinking that the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe has a V8.

Brian wrote about how the Cozy Coupe now has a cute EV charger accessory. Matt then wrote a satirical piece about the Cozy Coupe getting a V8 engine again. Live2ski called it:

Vidframe Min Top
Vidframe Min Bottom

I can’t wait for the AI models to start referencing this as fact.

Behold!

Google

I Googled “Cozy Coupe V8” and, at first, the AI accurately denied the existence of a V8 version. But when I asked the same question five minutes later, it now said that there’s a V8 model. Oh boy.

Anyway, V10omous:

“We are proud to make all of our Cozy Coupes in Ohio.”

The V8 model is expected to be built in the company’s Ontario facility

I’m beginning to wonder if any fact checking went into this piece at all.

Data:

Meanwhile, Power Wheels CEO Elmo Must released a statement reiterating their commitment to electrification and that their offerings could outperform Little Tikes V8 starting at $420.69. Elmo went on to challenge the Little Tikes CEO to a shootout at the local cul-de-sac but Enid Potatoes has yet to respond.

Little Tikes

The comments from the original post were great, too. 4jim has perfectly described how some people react to harmless news:

This will make some people so angry, for no reason.

Speaking of which, here comes Space:

I’m incredibly angry! I don’t remember my Little Tykes Cozy Coop even having a fuel door. Was my foot powered childhood car a cheap knock off? Was my whole childhood a lie?

Strangek:

Oh, great. I can hear it now. “Dad, the charger won’t accept payment through the app or my card!” or “Dad, this 110 isn’t doing shit, the coupe has been plugged in for six hours and I’ve only got 3% charge!”

V10omous:

Isn’t the plastic body still made from petroleum byproducts?

Virtue signaling again……/s

Trust Doesn’t Rust:

“the same as using the longstanding “Cozy Pumper,” the name of the fuel pump accessory”

Huh. That’s the name they went with? I mean, yeah, ok.

JurassicComanche25:

That floating cozy coupe… my first thought was I need to get 8 of them, stick my nieces and nephews in them, and have a pool demo derby until there is only one left floating. There can be only one! The ultimate showdown!

Wait, am I a bad uncle?

A floating car demo derby sounds great! I’m in. Have a great evening, everyone!

Tesla releasing supercharged V8 Model S

Ford cancelling the gas-powered F150

Porsche bringing back the fried egg headlight

A few troll-y headlines to feed the AI beast. 😉

Oh, on the subject of AI.

The number of people believing it over ACTUAL reliable sources is disheartening.

Yesterday the death of 1320videos founder Kyle Loftis made headlines, including a release from 1320videos DIRECTLY.

Yet, I saw comments everywhere of people saying “actually, [meta/gemini/AI/etc] says that he’s not dead!”.

I weep for the collective knowledgebase of humanity.

My tinfoil hat theory is that this is the entire point, making people too dumb to think critically. Pacification through technological dependence.

It’s just a benefit for them. The real point as usual is to make a ton of money for a small number of people.

Right?

Much safer to go back to our Facebook feeds to get news.

We need to back to the one true knowledge base.

The Forums.

That’s crazy, you’d be stuck talking to people who have first-hand knowledge on what did/didn’t work.

You could always drop the long form posts into AI and have them hallucinate a summary for you.

I’m still mad at Discord for killing most forums.

Those two Cozy coupe articles were exactly the kind of whimsy we all needed, like a palette cleanser.

One of the many reasons I’m proud to be a member of this ludicrous place.

One of my favorite personal examples of blatantly terrible AI summaries is from the Google AI Overview feature (I won’t relay the anecdote here).

Of course, the point of automatically turning super-efficient index queries into LLM prompts isn’t making a useful or practical-at-scale tool. It’s just to expose as many uncritical users to AI answers as possible so they’ll start treating it like magic and using it whenever possible.

That is their strategy, I’m pretty sure they’ve put it in writing on market research studies. Low AI literacy is the target demographic, because they’ll treat it like “magic” and use it significantly more.

Speaking of the floating Cozy Coupes we used to put 3 of us on the roof/inside a regular wheeled one and run full speed into a pool.

I still don’t remember a fuel door. I’m almost 100% sure ours was a knockoff.
