I think Griffin is correct in that topshot graphic. Not so much with the idea that one must get the Miata in Soul Red Crystal, but if there’s one color that immediately comes to mind when one envisions a Miata, Soul Red Crystal is always the answer … so SRCIATA, I guess.
Many other combinations come to mind. Ferraris? Red. Mercedes? Silver. A Buick GNX, or screaming-chicken Trans Am? Gotta be black. But those are all the basic b-words of cars and colors. What are some more obscure cars and hues – even if you may be the only one who feels they’re inextricably linked? I associate convertible Beetles exclusively with red, but only because my Dad had one when I was a kid. Still counts!
Don’t ask me why, but I always think of the Geo Storm as being teal.

Actually, I think of all Geos as being teal. I initially typed “Metro” instead of “Storm” up there, because I was also thinking of the Metro, also in teal. Would you like a tour of one from struggling YouTuber Dan DeVito or whatever his name is, it’s too obscure to remember? Here you go:
Let’s see … Lamborghini Miuras are strictly yellow for me. Lexus LS400 is always that nice champagne gold color. Dodge Challenger is either lime green or purple. I could go on, but this is Autopian ASKS, not Autopian ANSWERS.
So you tell me:

All valid. But the only reason the ND Miata has to be soul red is that Mazda has refused to offer any other proper colors since it came out, just a bunch of greyscale none sense. The one orange anniversary edition not withstanding. All prior generations had at least a few good colors so it’s disappointing.
I actually really like machine grey. I would consider it. The paint process is so good that it looks stunning up close.
The deep blue gets a honorable mention. Very nice in bright sunlight but just too dark for me.
otherwise, blech. My ND was soul red.
Yeah those are ok, but I prefer colors that look good from across the parking lot! I just picked up an NC and the only thing I don’t like about is it’s very boring silver.
