One of the beautiful abilities of our community is turning anything into a joke. I’m not sure how you do it, but I love to see it. For this Monday edition of Comment of the Day, I will be highlighting more of the jokers among you!
Jason wrote about how his wife’s VW Tiguan has a speedometer that counts in 10 mph increments at higher speeds. Goblin makes a good point to start:
Oh come on now !!!
Have you never driven a Benz?
This is a non-proportional speedo, like most Germans and Swedes – more info at (almost) legal speeds, then drifting into nothingness as you become a criminal. Same as most Saabs and Volvos.
You notice this, but it doesn’t weird you out that you are both in Neutral and Drive at the same time ?!?
Shame.
Jason Torchinsky:
It’s not in neutral and drive at the same time! One of those is the compass. Clearly, it’s telling me I’m in Neutral and facing Deast.
Michael Han:
Porth, Routh, Deast and Lest.
Thanks, my head hurts now!
Michael Han returns:
That’s just daylight savings speed.
Frank C.:
You can’t go 90. You have to skip it. Bad things happen, like breaking Warp 10.
Here’s the Star Trek reference:
Also relevant:
Rollin Hand:
The 90 is unneeded because once you hit 88mph, you’re gonna see some serious shit.
IRegretNothing, Esq, DVM, BBQ:
I didn’t see that odd detail on the speedometer. I was too occupied by the tachometer inexplicably showing that the engine runs.
Mike Harrell:
We don’t know that the engine was running. The tach may just have a stuck needle.
Hoonicus:
During the Piëch years, VW quietly replaced *miles* with *malfunctions* in MPH.

I wrote about the struggles of LiveWire. CSRoad:
Put a fork in it, it’s done. )-:
Dodsworth:
Unplug it first.
Matt wrote a Morning Dump containing a story about how the Corvette SUV is shelved. Tekamul:
“Introducing the 2028 Corvette Camaro.”
Keep up the fun, everyone! Have a great evening.
