Do You Have A Car As Your Computer Wallpaper Or Phone Lock Screen?

Notebook. Vector. Realistic Isolated Model Vector Stock.

My answer to today’s Ask is “No, I do not.” I’ve never really gone in for wallpapers and the like, though I’m not against them. I just like my screens’ default look to be some kind of blank canvas. I currently have whatever abstraction comes as default with the iMac, and when I used to be on PCs, I just replaced the provided garbage with woodgrain or some other innocuous pattern.

… but I gotta say, that synthwave Countach in the topshot is dope. Maybe I should make that my wallpaper! So rad. The design as well as the laptop vector I stuck it into are from DepositPhotos.com, many thanks to them.

Today’s Ask was suggested by Mercedes, who dropped these examples:

Merc Screens

Says Merc:

My present computer wallpaper is Volkswagen’s publicity stunt to advertise the Touareg V10 TDI. My usual picks for desktop backgrounds are dream cars, dream planes, and dream bridges. In this case, I have a dream car and dream plane in the same shot! The icons on my desktop are hints to future articles that I want to write. Some are also just part numbers and notes for things I’ve fixed on my Stella, Rover, and Smarts.

My phone backgrounds tend to be pictures of my own vehicles or pictures of planes or trains that I have seen out in the wild. My lockscreen, which isn’t pictured, is always an image of my wife.

Ah yes, the Dream Bridge, a classic wallpaper choice.

Your turn!

I don’t have vehicles as backgrounds although my work computer background is vehicle adjacent. I have the Massimo Vignelli NYC Subway map and used to have a Tube map. My phone has my wife as the lock screen and my personal laptop has the Windows Insider anniversary wallpaper. My other computers just have whatever since I rarely log in

Yes. As long as computers and eventually phones could have an image for the desktop and/or lock screen, I’ve always had some sort of car-related photo.

The car companies I’ve worked for, I’ve always had some sort of car from them as my background for my work computers. Sometimes late models or sometimes classics.

My personal devices were usually a a car I was currently fascinated with or sometimes a really great shot of one of my cars. My personal laptop currently has a pic of my 392 Challenger roasting the shit out of my tires at Roadkill. More so, it was taken by a professional and close personal friend who is well-known in the automotive aftermarket media. She told me that she would be my personal photographer that day for the whole day and she really came through. I’ve had this image on my laptop for over a year now, which is the longest I’ve ever kept an image on my desktop.

Only on my (gaming) desktop at home, which is my first car, my ’86 IROC. This has always been my background for this computer through its different iterations.

My work laptop at my previous job used to have a big rotation of various car pictures, but my current work laptop just rotates between two pics of my current husky and my previous one. My personal and work phones also have both dogs (one on the lock screen, the other on the background).

My phone background has been cars for as long as I can remember. First it was press pictures, then it switched to my cars in cool places once I got a car and started going to cool places. I started switching it every trip, and it kind of turned into an obsession of mine to get a good background picture of my car whenever I take a road trip somewhere cool (my wife loves it). After a fairly recent trip to Glacier National Park, I switched it to a slideshow because I didn’t want to give up the picture of my WRX on Going to the Sun Road as a background. Now I add a picture every time I go somewhere cool and take a good picture.

Yes, my phone’s background is the #24 Lola T90 on display at the Hop Exchange in London.

Yes. My own M240i in Thundernight Metallic. Just the M240i logo on the boot/trunk lid. I’m a multiple screens guy at home & at work, so the M240i is always on one screen — the other one is my way better half and I taking delivery of our San Remo Green i4.
