It’s Not The Greatest SUV In The World, It’s Just A Tribute: COTD

Some who cannot afford the performance version of their favorite car will instead build a sort of replica of that car from a lesser model. That’s called a tribute car, and they can be cool! But there is one Tribute that is not that kind of tribute.

Matt wrote a Morning Dump that had a story about the Lamborghini Revuelto Miura 60° Homage. He then asked about the best and worst tribute cars. Username Loading….:

I think Mazda made a Tribute to the Ford Escape or something like that.

It’s Pronounced Porch-ah:

It’s not the best car in the world, it was just a Tribute.

Y2Keith:

It couldn’t Escape the stigma of the original.

Carbon Fiber Sasquatch:

Best tribute car? It’s gotta be the 2005 Ford GT right?

Matt also wrote about how our site has been wonky lately. MrLM002:

Also the Galpin Auto merch site is having payment processing issues.

Tried to order the Stainoflage shirt in my size and it wouldn’t accept my card, meanwhile my bank has no record of my card getting declined, so seemingly is the issue on your end.

Abdominal Snoman:

Can you post your card number, cvv code, and zip code for easier troubleshooting?

(Please don’t do this.)

BB 2 wheels > 4:

Wow, don’t you need their social as well as mother’s maiden name?

Abdominal Snoman:

I’m just trying to get some gas and pizza, not a mortgage.

Peter got silly one day and moved the upper deck of a Boeing 747 to the rear of the fuselage. Sid Bridge:

Let’s not forget the USS Enterprise! That thing had its cockpit in the middle of a gigantic dish that was elevated and forward of the entire fuselage. If they had to land it on landing gear, everyone in engineering would be in for a bad time.

Tekamul:

The guy complaining about the impact of the forebody hump on the transonic drag of the wing has also totally overlooked the far more critical side fumbling induced by capacitive duractance.
This guy needs to go back to turbo encabulators 101.

Jason came up with a clever way to make an electric Mazda Miata fun with a mushroom boost button. Toebonian:

Jason, you mean a ZOOM ZOOM button.

Have a great evening, everyone!

I still smile when I rediscover the Turbo Encabulator. My grown gear head sons will occasionally throw out things like “hand me that dingle arm” or “whats the torque on the grammies?”
