October 11 is the day, and attending is the way. To automotive salvation, that is.
The annual Galpin Car Show is absolutely massive, spanning the entirety of Galpin Square on Roscoe Boulevard just east of the 405 in Van Nuys, California.
The combination of microcars and off-roaders and old stuff and brand new supercars and lowriders is sensational, as you can see in the video Jason and I shot two years ago, when we were a bit slender-er (I would like to, at some point, look at an old video of myself and not say “Man I look so different,” but alas).

Went last year and was impressed by the scale of it. I had family in tow, and though they didn’t hate it, it was quite hot and they were ready to leave well before I was. Thankfully they did indulge me enough to survey the entire scene. If you plan on going to spectate know in advance that finding parking is a bit of an adventure on its own.
Third (Autopian) Year’s a Charm, I registered weeks ago… I brought the older Germans before, so it’s the younger Italian’s turn this year!

I would, but I’ll be in Jamaica sitting on a beach and drinking rum punch that week, with my wife, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Maybe next year.
