Domesticated cats are funny creatures. They look so adorable, yet when they’re allowed to be, they can be devastatingly destructive. Reportedly, cats have contributed to the extinctions of at least a few dozen species. But, clearly, they’ve been unsuccessful in getting rid of humans.
The Bishop wrote about how a cat inspired the road device that has saved countless lives. Sid Bridge:
Somewhere, a very disappointed cat is reading about how is attempt to use his evil demon eyes to scare a human off the road led to the creation of a device that has saved countless human lives.
10001010:
Mine is going to be so pissed when I read this to him later.
Andy Individual:
Fun fact. If you drop one of these reflectors it always lands right side up. Spooky…
GENERIC_NAME adds some neat context:
Also, these lights give the impression of driving on an airport runway at night and almost encourage you to cut your headlights and just cruise like you’re playing Night Driver on your Apple IIE back in 1985. Don’t do that.
But it’s really good fun!
The cast iron mounts that cat’s eyes (or indeed other retroreflectors) are attached to are explicitly snowploughable – they have ramps either side to guide the plough up and over. Such an incident is vanishingly rare, and some UK news sources suggest it’s the only time it’s ever happened in the UK.
(Source: I used to work for a company that dealt in ploughable studs.)
As does Angry Bob:
Interesting thing, the reflectors in my area are yellow if you’re going the correct direction, but the other side is red to indicate you’re going the wrong way!
I noticed that back when I drove tow trucks, and I had to go the wrong way on an interstate to get to a crash site. It’s really weird to see.

Thomas wrote a Morning Dump that had both Chevrolet Express news and Gordon Murray news. Rafael:
You know you’re old when you peruse the van section and skim the Gordon Murray news.
I’m with you, Rafael. I admit, I don’t really care about what Gordon Murray is up to, but I’m cheering the Express on to another 30 years of production with basically no major changes!
Finally, Jason wrote about Beau’s Muntz Jet. M. Park Hunter:
No, Beau should not keep it. To honor the car’s pedigree, he should sell it to me! Right now! For $2000! Because he’s Bananacakes Beau! And he’s craaaaaazzzzzyyyyy!
Have a great evening, everyone!

Update: He was indeed upset and bit me.
If your cat doesn’t try to bite you, do you even have a cat?
