One of my favorite things about country music is just how much everyone loves singing about trucks. There’s a country song for pretty much every truck that has ever sold in America, and you know what? I unironically adore these songs. So, I really want to hear this idea that a pair of readers came up with.
Jason wrote a Cold Start about Dodge’s centennial commercial, and 10001010 rolled in with a great comment:

All the cool Dodges I grew up with were actually Mitsubishis.
JVDS made it even better:
That sounds like a sad car themed country song.

In other news, Brian wrote the awesome story about how one GM EV1 escaped the crusher. Apparently, GM had to resort to some sneaky tactics to get the car back. Sid Bridge:
GM: Hi there! I’m here to pick up your EV1 for it’s monthly gas tank cleaning!
Jonathan: Oh, thanks, I… wait a second. No.
GM: Crap.GM: Hi there! We’re here to do a quick satisfaction survey on your EV1. While you answer a few questions, do you mind if we check it for termites?
Jonathan: Yes. I mind.
GM: Crap.GM: Hi there! Congratulations! You’re EV1 has been award the “Best EV1 in Colorado Award!” All we need to do is get it over to the studio for a few pictures…
Jonathan: Really! That’s so cool! I’ll… hey. Wait. No.
GM: Crap.GM: Hi there! I’m here to pick up your EV1 and take it back to GM headquarters where we will destroy it. You mind handing me over the keys?
Jonathan: Are you even trying anymore?
GM: Just give me the car? Please? Will you? Please?
Jonathan: Well…
GM: Yeah?
Jonathan: No.
GM: CRAP!GM: Hi there! I brought a fruitcake.
Jonathan: No.
GM: CRAP!
The Bishop wrote about the Pontiac Fiero’s propensity to get extra spicy. But Tyler Durden points out something great:
The most under-appreciated part of this piece is: “…the postman drops the latest issue of Taillights Monthly into the box.”
Have a great evening, everyone!

Too bad all of them now aren’t Mitsubishi’s they are Fiats… and they ain’t so cool anymore.
Honestly, the Chrysler/Mitsubishi partnership from the 1970s-2000s was a seriously beneficial relationship for both sides, and I don’t think either company has been anywhere near as good since it ended.
Im a lifelong country fan, and even I get pretty tired of the truck themes, especially now that they’re singing about diesels and blowing smoke. Like I believe we’ve completely exhausted all the ways to jam “Chevy, Duramax, Square, F-150, etc into a rhyme.
Thinking back to the Mazda AI concept, I’m reminded of seeing a comment once about a country song where the guy’s truck leaves him.
As Jerry Reed would sing, “Lord Mr. Ford, what have you done!”
>…blowing smoke.
>…completely exhausted…
I see what you did there.
Hahahaha I swear that was on accident, your sharper than me lol
Ditch radio ‘country’ and go find some good alternative or red dirt country.
Turnpike Troubadours, Colter Wall, Silverado (Formerly Mike and the Moonpies), and Charlie Crockett are all ready with some *real* great country music for you.
Yeah, pretty sure what’s on the radio now is basically just autotuned pop music sung with a fake southern accent
Well to be fair, “Radio” country has been changing with the times for as long as the radio has existed. Look at the difference between just 90’s country and 2000s country. It’s been on a slide towards pop for a long time now, and it doesn’t show signs of stopping, because the big concert crowds will always be the younger audiences.
Lately, I’ve been on a bluegrass kick and I swear it’s healing my soul.
Oh, yeah, I like both kinds of music, personally, bluegrass and Old Time
Just noticed that The Kody Norris Show are playing at the Carter Fold this weekend, too. That place is always especially nice in the fall
Oh I’m already there. I drive 7 hours a day, I was burned out on radio country exactly 1 week into this job and started discovering that there is still REAL country being made.but solid advice! Also don’t miss a chance to see Charles Wesley Godwin live. Dude puts on a hell of a good show.
