A little while back, Jason told us about how Slate was collaborating with the candy brand Smartie’s to create wraps for their new trucks. These would be the bright, pale pastels that make up the individual flavors of their very chalky candies that come in rolls that I usually just bust open and dump the entire contents of into my mouth.
That had me thinking of what other candy or food tie-ins we could do with cars?
Smarties was an easy one, since they offer so many pastel colors:

The lovely brown color you could get the Toyota Sienne in with a tan interior was crying out for a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup edition. Some stripes, a few decals, and there you go. There would even be peanut butter cups mashed into the carpet, or at least there would be by around day three of ownership if you know the kind of passengers that ride in the back of these things (I personally have a couple of them).

Nissan hasn’t given us a Pike car in decades, but we could at least have some brightly-color Kicks in special lurid shades. I say a Kicks Peeps edition in the colors of those rather disgusting squishy marshmallow chicks might be ideal.

Some cars were ripe for food themes based on their names. The AMC Concord should have been available in the color of the grape that shared the same name. The Datsun Cherry was never available in a red special edition with scratch-and-sniff seats, at least not that I know of.
Let’s hear more from you! What food-themed special editions make sense for any cars you like, past or present?

Mitsouka Wienermobile body kit for Autozam. Call it the Cocktail.
Mitsubishi Lancer or Nismo and Juul
Dodge and Skoal dip
Complete with spit cup and vinyl stain decals down its flanks.
And a thin blue line flag sticker and Punisher tow hitch cover.
And maybe a decal of Calvin peeing on both Ford and GM logos.
The Macho Man Slim Jim commercials seem very Dodge/Ram coded to me.
Snap into a Ram Jam.
Why is strawberry green?
Because cherry is pink
Cherry is way more pink than strawberry is green.
Haribo green gummy bear is also Strawberry in the US (it’s green apple elsewhere)
I’ve been lied to
TBH Haribo eat like unripened gummies. Oily, tough. They tear not yield under moderate pressure. Mott’s bite are like perfectly ripened pears on their texture and tooth. Welch’s are the big box store that’s not Costco gummy. Source: Father of a 1st Grader.
Bartles & James Volkswagen Cabrio.
White Claw edition Jeep Wrangler.
Oscar Mayer Wienermobile BMW?
Toberlone for the cyber thing
With hotel room snack bar pricing.
I’m Surprised no one has pointed out the already-existing Red Bull Minis.
Suzuki X-90 was the OG Red Bull car though.
A Stig of culture, I see.
Nature Valley Granola Bars Subaru
HP Sauce Mini Cooper
Skittles Lamborghini
Jolly Rancher Porsche
Gordon’s Gin Aston Martin, IYKYK
Starbucks Ford Mach-E, get it in a light brown and it’s a Mach-E Auto (Macchiato)
Nature Valley x Subaru genuinely made me lol
I’ll take the hit.
Rolls-Royce Grey Poupon Edition. (You know you were thinking it.)
Pardon me…
Nice car… for me to Poupon!
A Kia “Stinger Edition” Stinger? It would come in a light tan with the recipe for a Stinger (1 part brandy, 1 part white creme de menthe, stir with ice, strain into a coupe) printed on the side? Fold-down bar on the passenger side of the front dash? Barf bag storage in the back? No?
Bob’s Red Mill Old Country Style Muesli Subaru Outback.
First time I saw that picture of ol’ Bob I immediately said “That man drives an MG TD.”
Reese’s has an apostrophe.
Smarties does not.
Just ask David.
How about a Starbucks Suzuki Cappuccino?
Or a Tabasco Porsche Cayenne?
And of course, there could be a Taco Bell Tacoma.
If the apple car had made it, then a Spam edition of that (or any other tech company vehicle that might show up)
Starbucks Tesla Model Y or GMC Yukon
Dunkin Buick Encore or Kia soul
Duch bros Subaru Ascent or Altima
Taco Bell
Diet Coke
Costco (specifically the food court)
Put these on any car. Taco Bell might work best for a WRX though
Ram Trucks & Busch Light
or
Chevy Trucks & Natty Light
Chevy Silverado is absolutely more Busch Light but also “Like a (Rolling) Rock”
Dodge Rams would be Modelo Especial.
Ram Rams would be Natty or Keystone.
Ford is Bud Light.
GMC is Molson or Labatts’s.
Tundra would be Shiner Bock, Sam Adams, Fat Tire, or Boulevard Wheat depending on regional area.
I feel the Hummer (then or now, take your pick) needs a KFC tie in, specifically, that sandwich where they replace the bread with fried chicken.
The Reece’s theme would also work well on an El Camino. Two great tastes that taste great together!
We need another roundy car for the skittles edition- Neons would have been perfect, round and colorful.
Some crossover needs to have a crossover partnership with wines. Whats todays soccer mom car? CRV? Pacifica? Give it a bordeaux color, rose, off-white white. Comes with Nappa leather and an included trip to the Napa valley for a wine tour.
Maybe the Ferrari 458 should have had a smores edition.
Absolute Citron Citroen.
Ferrero Rocher Ferrari
Nissan Altimas and White Monsters
Lamborghini and Red Bull.
