One of the accepted realities of RV ownership is that your unit will almost certainly break, leak, or find some extremely weird way to break. Yet, hundreds of thousands of these things are sold each year. I have written in depth about RV problems and the costs to fix them. Clearly, we RV people are a little bit weird, and that’s okay!
I wrote about a new travel trailer that opens up three times in size, using three giant rubber seals to keep water out. It adds a lot of points of failure. Noahwayout:
Do RV owners have a fetish for things that break, leak and mold in their own driveways?
My family has been RVing for decades, and this is exactly what happens to RVs sometimes. Thanks for the laugh.
DaChicken:
Obviously, yes.
– Signed, an RV owner.
Fellow weird car enjoyer Mike Harrell chimed in:
…things that break, leak and mold in their own driveways?
I don’t need an RV for that.
Rod Millington:
I prefer to refer to RV owners as mobile masochists.

Jason wrote a Cold Start about African Volkswagens that have “elephant’s foot” style taillights. JayJay:
But seems somehow universally in order, that the biggest elephant’s feet are found in Africa..
Lincoln Clown CaR made a good joke about Jason’s magical ability to tell the finest differences between Volkswagens:
You can tell by the strange combination of old and new details
No, I’m afraid I cannot.
Lotsofchops:
Torch could show me all the variations side-by-side and my response would be “they’re the same picture.”
Balloondoggle:
THERE ARE 4 VARIATIONS!!!
Emil Minty:
I am a Nigerian Prince who is unfairly being required to sell all of my cars. If you buy my Beetle for USD 25,000, I can buy back from you for USD 100,000 in 6 months. You can use the car, I just want someone responsible like you to own it and promise to sell it back to me.
Sid Bridge also had a Nigerian Prince joke:
I guess the Brazilian VW factory was really expecting that the Nigerian prince would deposit all that money directly into their account in exchange for sending the parts.
Canopysaurus:
Torch, I think you should schedule a check up soon because you’re exhibiting symptoms of Type 1 Diabeetles.
Have a great evening, everyone!

I’m convinced there are two types of VW Beetle owners with very little in-between.
The First: “yep, it runs”
The Second: “Well, akshually, that’s an early 1968 German model trim panel, so it clearly doesn’t belong on a 1972 Mexico model. Not to mention that the horn’s tone is slightly off-key, likely due to the shell coming from a 1983 Brazil export model that used zinc instead of steel. But the most heinous crime is that you’ve fitted the wrong tires onto this car – it never came from the factory with Kumho All-Weather tires, you need to use proper Continentals if you want to be taken seriously”
Is diabeetles similar to diabeetus?
Yes but with less beets.
